Trade Fair

The Trade Fair will be on site at the end of the Summer School. This will be open to visitors on Saturday 22nd August and open to students-only on Friday 21st August (evening). There will also be a Fleece Fair (further information here).


Each trader has also provided one or more raffle prize.  Tickets will be on sale at the event. (Link to details of Raffle Prizes here)

Classic Carder
We are a Shropshire family business who create beautifully designed and affordable drumcarders. Our carders can be customised and feature adjustable drums with a choice of three different grades of card cloth. The carders are ideal for fleece preparation and colour blending enabling you to produce batts and rovings.

Don Porritt Looms ­
I will be bringing the new production folding Tapestry Loom (as illustrated in March issue of Tapestry Weaver) plus LOUET table looms, stainless steel reeds, raddles, stretchers, shuttles and TEXSOLV heddles and cord.

DT Craft & Design ­ 
Debbie and Pete will be bringing a selection of their lovely undyed yarns and fibres, natural dye extracts (including Botanical Colors), synthetic dyes including all dyes used on Debbie’s courses, dye kits, Kool Aid, mordants/assistants, equipment, needles, hooks, accessories, books and patterns. Friendly, expert advice always available!

FleeceWitch at Alandale 
Fleecewitch sells beautiful baby alpaca fleece in various forms;  raw, dyed or  tops for spinning or felting. Handspun yarns in natural colours. Hand dyed luxury alpaca yarns and knitted and woven fine lace shawls. We also have a range of alpaca/silk and cashmere yarns in natural colours.

John Arbon Textiles & Fibre Harvest ­
John Arbon Textiles is a Devon-based yarn and textile producer with a small-scale, specialist, worsted spinning & processing Mill – specialising in making fine quality hand knit yarns, fibres and tops, plus a range of luxury socks … using fibres sourced in the UK, if not locally, wherever possible.

The John Dunsmore Nepalese Textile Trust
The Trust supports weavers, knitters and embroiderers who live in remote areas of Nepal. To fund our work we will be selling handwoven tablecloths, mats, handtowels, knitted scarves and shawls made from the Himalayan giant nettle together with embroideries created by women from our most recent project in Santang.

The Journal for Weavers Spinners and Dyers

Hedgehog Equipment ­ 
'Hedgehog Equipment manufactures and retails a range of carding, spinning and weaving equipment. We are agents for Majacraft, Louet and Glimakra and sell fleeces and prepared fibre blends ready for handspinning and felting, including some from our organic Badger Face Welsh Mountain and Hill Radnor sheep.  We plan to bring a representative sample of our stock to the trade fair, including wheels for customers to try out.

My Fine Weaving Yarn ­ 
Will be bringing a selection of repeatable yarns suitable for all types of weaving as well as other yarn crafts in a variety of fibres and counts.  We stock over 100 colours of Mercerised Cotton in 3/2, 5/2, 10/2 and 20/2 counts as well as yarns made from Wool, Silk, Tencel and Bamboo amongst others. 

The Old Bookshop ­
I supply second hand, out of print and new books on costume, fashion, lace, knitting, weaving, embroidery, beading and textiles. Over 20,000 volumes can be viewed at my shop but please phone before coming to see me. I will be bringing a good selection of books with me - these will mostly be from the craft and textiles elements of my stock

We will be bringing a selection of beautiful porcelain and wooden buttons and yarn-bowls which we make in our small workshop.

Textile Designs by Sarah Cage 
I am a small-scale dyer and textile artist. I will be bringing one-off skeins for adding interest to weaving and embroidery, as well as my range of textile jewellery, scarves woven on a scarf loom, and other examples of my textile art.

Textile Traders
Diane and Jim of Textile Traders in Shropshire will be selling lots of lovely hand-made textiles collected by them from villages and workshops around Asia. They will also be bringing a rail full of unusual and one off garments made from recycled traditional textiles.

 The Threshing Barn
An Aladdin's cave of craft supplies for weavers ,spinners ,dyers ,felt makers ,knitters and textile artists. New equipment will include the concept wheel from Louet their folding Jane loom, chain driven drum carders from Strauch as well as their beautiful ball winders and swifts, the Glimakra Emilia rigid heddle looms etc

Uppingham Yarns
